“Consider (think about carefully) the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And, how much more valuable are you than birds!” Luke 12:24
When I was younger, I was always curious what Bird – Watchers got out of being fascinated with watching birds. I could easily spot bird -watchers as they just had a certain look: usually khaki shorts, a khaki hat and binoculars. It was certainly not something that I wanted to be identified with. Well, here I am in this season of life and proud to be called a Bird -Watcher!! I don’t wear Khaki shorts, khaki hat or binoculars, but I’m official!!! My back porch is my lookout. I enjoy taking care of several bird feeders and watching all kinds of birds flock there. I kind of feel like I’m helping God out with the task of taking care of them.
“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside of your Father’s care.” Matthew 10:29 God sees that little bird when it falls. Not long ago, I spotted a little bird on the ground and I thought: God sees that little bird. There is an estimated 50 billion birds in the world, but God noticed the little bird in my yard. Sparrows are not too valuable in the world’s eyes. Sometimes we don’t feel very valuable, especially in the world’s eyes, but we are of great value to God in every season of our life.
God reminds us in our key verse that He takes care of the birds and He sees them when they fall to the ground,. However, He emphasizes that we are much more valuable than birds. God sees us! There is such comfort in those words. Sometimes, that’s all we need to know! He is aware of us and desires to be in all the details of our lives. Every tear we have shed, God sees and knows the reason for it. He hears our heart even when we can’t express the words.
So,,,,enjoy the birds! God does, and He takes good care of them. Let it be a wonderful reminder of how much more valuable we are to Him and His great cares for us.
