“They are like a well watered plant in the sunshine, spreading its shoots over the garden.” Job 8:16
We all have cloudy days and sometimes cloudy seasons. But our faithful God always will send some sunshine our way. The sunshine comes in various forms…….but mostly through people who many times are totally unaware they are being used to make someone’s day a little brighter. I have experienced several bits of that sunshine. I wanted to share a recent experience where unexpectedly I met a “well watered plant”. I was headed to a local nail salon, pulled into the parking space, and bumped into the fancy brand new vehicle next to me. There were several places of business where I was parked and had no idea how in the world I would find the owner and make things right. Well, I determined to go into every building until I found the owner. I decided to start with the Nail Salon that brought me to the parking space. I walked inside and asked the manager if he knew who the vehicle might belong to. He inquired of the the ladies getting their nails done if anyone owned the vehicle. Of all the buildings there (plus a grocery store), the owner was there getting a pedicure. What a blessing! Whew! I told her what I had done, and as her nails were finished, she said “Let’s go take a look.” She was very sweet and in the walk to the vehicles, the name of Jesus was brought up. She inspected the vehicle and wasn’t phased a bit. In fact, the next thing she did was grab me around the neck and prayed the most beautiful prayer for me! No discussion of money or insurance. She told me not to worry about it and go get my pedicure! God had let me bump into the right vehicle as He wanted to bring some sunshine to my cloudy morning. She was a “well watered plant”
I read a quote by Max Lucado , “Ignore the cloud and see the ray”. Sometimes, the ray is in an encouraging text, a gift someone put a lot of time and effort into, a card, a prayer, someone offering to do a good deed (which they were unaware of being an answer to prayer), or a smile.
It’s always a beautiful sight watching the sun break through dark clouds. Let’s be “well watered plants spreading our shoots and lots of (Sonshine)”
